Hamburger pasta

Pasta night and burger night… on the same night? Count us in! This crowd-pleasing, hunger-busting feast features sizzled beef mince, baby toms, green pepper and onion in a ketchup-style sauce, topped with tang-tastic gherkins. All the burger fun, with satisfying pasta instead of a bun.

Before you start

  • 1 large saucepan
  • 1 large non stick frying pan

Get prepping

  • Peel and finely dice the onions, then deseed the peppers and dice into 1cm squares. Thinly slice the gherkins.

Boil the pasta

  • Cook the pasta in boiling water for 8-9 mins, then drain.

Things get saucy!

  • Meanwhile, spritz a large non-stick frying pan with cooking spray and put it over a medium-high heat. Fry the onions, peppers, tomatoes and mince for 6-7 mins.
  • Add the passata, crumble in the stock and pour in 250ml water (350ml for 4 portions) and the Hendersonʼs Relish. Stir well and simmer for 5 mins.

Boost the flavour

  • Finely chop the parsley.
  • Add half the gherkins, the parsley and mustard to the sauce, then tip in the pasta and stir well to combine.

Add your final flourish

  • Scatter the remaining gherkins over the pasta and serve.
